Camp Pinnacle

CAMP PINNACLE FOR LIFE! We held our wedding here recently and had the most amazing time! We knew we wanted a wedding weekend and Camp Pinnacle was the perfect choice for us. Michelle, the coordinator through the camp, was absolutely amazing to work with. She provided detailed responses to our questions and was a rockstar on the weekend of the event. Chef Richard did an amazing job ensuring there was plenty of food. We had so many people tell us how excellent the food was all weekend. The camp staff helping Richard in the kitchen, and the staff leading activities (high rope, rock climbing, archery, zip lining) were super friendly and accommodating. We have received so many compliments and we could not have asked for a better wedding weekend!

Everything was great until the new owner came. Some guy all hopped up on something, if not himself. He took all our snacks and popped the blob. He replaced half the staff with muscle-bound foreign guys who were mean to the kids. They made us compete in sports with Camp MVP from across the water and those guys were jerks. Eventually that owner was ousted and we ending up beating Camp MVP in the Apache relay at the end of the summer. The new owner is great, very fat. It was the Summer of 1995.

We had our dream fall wedding at Camp Pinnacle. First of all, the camp itself is set up like the idyllic summer camp you see in movies (literally, they have filmed movies here!) complete with a lake, a tree house, and slides all over the place. It looked absolutely gorgeous during our wedding weekend between the fall colors and some fortunate North Carolina weather and we felt both safe and secluded. Second, camp provides in-house catering that is fully customizable and delicious. We had a Friday night cookout, a continental breakfast, cocktail hour appetizers, an Italian-inspired dinner, and a full brunch spread during our wedding weekend. Everything went smoothly and we received compliments the whole time. Third, it’s fun! We were so glad our guests took advantage of the whole camp, from kayaking on the lake to going up in the SkyPark high ropes course (an extra fee that was totally worth it) to the basketball court and putt-putt course! Not to mention the venue fee included the cabins for the whole weekend so we could provide free lodging to our guests at our destination wedding. We felt so thrilled to find this place and having been through our wedding could not imagine having gone anywhere else for our big day. Michelle was our coordinator at camp and provided answers to thousands of questions over our year of planning. The staff was great, especially with regards to safety, and took great care of us and our guests. The catering staff was very sweet and worked hard to feed our guests on time throughout the weekend. We would recommend Camp Pinnacle 100 times out of 100, it was exactly the light hearted outdoorsy wedding we wanted. If you are considering Camp Pinnacle, we would make a couple recommendations. 1) You will need a special event permit to serve alcohol at camp, start this process immediately as we ran into trouble obtaining everything we needed for that application. 2) Opting in to the coordinator contract is a great choice for getting all the behind the scenes work done. You may need to hire/delegate outside if you need someone to guide you through everything directly on the day.

I went here during the summer of 95' when it was called Camp Hope. It was a fat camp. I had the best damn summer of my life. I still remember my camp counselor, Lars. He made a loud and disturbing sound while he slept but he was fine. They got rid of the go karts when I was there and when I called my dad to complain he said that he didn't send me to go kart camp. Lost 50 lbs that summer on the Perkins diet.

Picturesque venue for adventure wedding seekers! I recently chose Camp Pinnacle as the location for my styled shoot because of the beautiful natural setting. Michelle was super helpful and communicative throughout the process and provided support on the day-of. As a wedding and event planner, I appreciate their level of professionalism and the various options on-site to host ceremonies and receptions. I look forward to future events with the Camp Pinnacle crew!

When my daughter was in her early-teens, she was in a very bad place mentally. She was being bullied at school, had very low self esteem, and had no confidence in herself. Camp Pinnacle was a godsend! My moody, sullen, withdrawn daughter came home after her first session with a happiness and confidence I hadn’t seen in years. She begged to go back and for longer the next year, which we obliged. I cannot say enough good things about the camp, its staff and its principles. They offer guidance and growth, acceptance and self discovery, always gently prodding the campers to be their best selves. The experiences and adventures offered are just amazing! The facilities, activities, day trips and outings, staff quality, even the food is just unbelievably top notch. You can truly feel the passion that the staff and administration have for the campers. My daughter had such an amazing time during her summers at Camp Pinnacle that she is going back this summer as a member of the staff! We are thoroughly happy with our experiences at Pinnacle, and trust them to keep my daughter safe while enriching her life experience. I recommend them to anyone who wishes the very best summer camp experience for their child!
